Clanns inaugural Beach Run a great success
Hundreds turned out in brilliant sunshine on Sunday for the Club’s inaugural Beach Run – a junior 1k run followed by a 5k run. An important fundraiser for the Club and an enjoyable family fun day, this first-time event was well supported by all age groups.
The 5k run was won by Dutchman, Thomas Rutten, in a time of 18.51 followed in second place by Clanns clubman, Colly Reynolds, in a time of 20.51, with Paul Campbell in third position with a time of 21.21. The first female participant across the finishing line was Elizabeth Wheeler in a very strong time of 21.30, followed by Sinead O’Connor in 24.31 and Triona Murphy in 24.32. Congratulations to all who participated – whether by running, walking or a combination of both. The Run can also be viewed on YouTube – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4tGRuwfjADE
Thank you
Great credit is due to the many people who helped to make the Beach Run a success – both in the preparations and on the day itself. But special thanks to the organising committee of Clodagh Tiernan, Philomena Lane, Roger McGrath, John Dodd, Eugene Davey and Shay Connolly.
Thanks also to Fyffes for providing nutritious food to those participating in the Run.
