A very good year for our U-21 footballers
Our U-21 footballers had a very good year in reaching the championship final despite losing that game over the weekend to a very strong Na Fianna side. Played in very blustery conditions in O’Toole Park in Crumlin, the game proved one step too far for this talented Clanns squad at this point in their development. Though playing against a more mature and physically stronger opposition, the lads stuck to their task admirably. Who knows how this game might otherwise have gone had the Na Fianna goalkeeper not saved a certain goal on the stroke of half time, or the cross bar not stood in the way of a net-bound rocket of a shot from Robert Lacey in the second half?
While all of the players did themselves and the Club proud in the way they performed, stand-out performances came from Ciarán Divney in defence and from Austin Dodd in attack. Considering this is still a very young team, the results achieved and the brand of football they played augurs well for the future
Club AGM
Off the field of play the main action took place around a well-attended AGM, which saw John Dodd re-elected as Club Chairman for another year.
Among the other officers elected were first timers Una McCullagh as Treasurer and Ann Farrell McLoughlin as Assistant Treasurer. The full list of the Club Executive can be found on the club website at www.clannagaelfontenoy.ie.

Christmas gala dinner
A great night was had by the large numbers who donned their best fashion for the Christmas Gala Dinner in Ballsbridge’s Clyde Court Hotel – thanks to Maeve O’Neill’s organising work. As is usual on such an occasion, some of the year’s outstanding achievements are duly recognised and the list of honours included: Colly Reynolds (Club person of the year), Anne Marie Roche (camogie player), Stacey Flood (senior ladies footballer), Kevin Munnelly (senior footballer), Thomas Joyce (senior hurler), Sharlene Forkan (junior ladies footballer), while the Team of the Year went to the U-12 footballers for their tremendous success in winning the Division 1 South league.
