Boys excel in friendly fixtures
Our U-9s came out on top in both games in a recent friendly fixture against Geraldine Morans. In the first game Clanns dominated from start to finish. Some excellent scores from Aidan and Senan H put them into a big lead which they never looked like losing. Mark defended strongly and Jack distributed the ball well from goals. Finn and Dylan did a great job up front, Dylan taking a fine point and Finn blasting in a great goal.
The second game was closer with Clanns needing a strong defensive performance from Adam. Jack passed the ball to help set up Senan H and Aidan for more points. Tomas played a great game up front and scored two good points. Good running from Mark in midfield and another fine score from Dylan saw the boys run out winners by two scores at the finish
Well done U-21s
Our U-21 footballers have been blazing a trail in the championship with their most recent convincing win over St Marks in the quarter final. Playing an open, attractive brand of football, they developed a lead in the first half and built successfully on that in the second. They can approach their semi-final in confidence.
Medals and more for the U-12s
Off the field of play a highlight event was the presentation of medals on Saturday morning in the Clubhouse to the U-12 boys who claimed the Division 1 South Dublin football league title. It’s not often that Clanna Gael Fontenoy get the better of much larger and better resourced clubs like Ballyboden St Endas and Kilmacud Crokes, so this was an occasion to be relished. And Clanns man and Dublin senior selector, Declan Darcy, was on hand to give some sound words of advice, as was Club Manager, Shay Connolly, who brought his unique brand of enthusiasm to the occasion.
Declan Darcy presented the medals to each player
Special team prints were also presented
